PSA - Ladies, Know Thyself

Why is the female population so damn reluctant to learn what’s going on with their own bodies? I’m continually struck by the ignorance perpetuated not only by media, but by parents who refuse their kids sex education and girls and women who flat out choose not to know.

Ladies, you need to be comfortable with your cooter, pals with your punani and homies with your hoohah. One of these days (when you’re home alone) get out a hand mirror, spread your legs and get to know your vulva and vagina.

Even if you are ‘grossed out’ by your most feminine bits, you need to understand what it looks like, what it feels like, what it smells like and what comes out of it. Everyone is a little different and you can’t always go by ‘textbook’ descriptions of what is going on down there. By knowing what your body is normally like, you can tell when something is ‘off’, when your ovulating (if do/don’t want to get pregnant,) if you have any STD symptoms… Honestly, I don’t understand why I’d even have to try to convince people to understand their own bodies.

Anyway, here’s a list of things that I’ve found that women don’t know, but should.

  1. A little white, yellow or clear daily discharge is quite normal. Unless it’s unusually textured (globby or cottage cheese) or smells ‘bad’, you have nothing to worry about. If you know your vajayjay, then you can tell when discharge is unusual for you.
  2. DOUCHING IS VERY VERY BAD FOR YOU! Do not do it, as it disrupts the PH and organism balance that helps your vagina keep infections at bay. If you notice an ‘off’ smell, it’s time to visit your gynecologist, not try to perfume the smell away.
  3. All you need to do to keep your vulva clean is use a little, mild soap and water on the outer surfaces. No need to scrub, stick soap in the vagina or wash it more than once a day. Again, if there’s an ‘off’ smell, see a doctor.
  4. You should see a gynecologist when you reach 18 or when you become sexually active. Ideally you should get an annual exam thereafter. Being a virgin does NOT make you immune to infections or even cervical cancer.
  5. Your hymen is at the very entrance to your vagina. It’s pretty easy to break for most women (via tampons, active play, horseback riding, etc) and not having one is certainly not an indicator of whether you have or have not have sex. (It’s possible to still retain part of the hymen if you DO have sex, too.)
  6. It’s quite possible to be allergic to condoms. You could have a latex allergy OR you could be allergic to ‘Nonoxynol-9′ which is found on some condoms as a spermicidal agent and in many spermicidal products. Try using a polyurethane condom lubricated with non-spermicidal, water or silicone based lubrication. (If you need help locating these products, try Babeland.
  7. Those fancy-pants underthings from Victoria’s Secret may look fabulous, but if they’re not made out of breathable cotton, they could be giving you a yeast or other infection. Save the lacey panties for special occasions and stick to plain, cotton panties for everyday wear.

And that is the end of my TMI PSA. As always, I am not a doctor, so if you have any serious questions, ask your gynecologist or try the local Planned Parenthood.

  • Total Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post, but I do stand to benefit if you click on my referral link.

A couple of people have asked me about paid to surf programs after I posted about CashDuck.

So I did a little research, and most of the people I’ve talked to haven’t been scammed by their paid-to-surf/paid-to-click, it’s just they didn’t really make that much money. At only a few cents per click, you have to click twenty times to make $1. If takes quite a bit of time to make money, but there’s no capital investment. Still, do research on each site before you join.

The secret to paid to surf or paid to click programs is that you don’t make your money off of doing the actual surfing yourself, you make your money by referring other people to the program and getting a percentage of their earnings. If you convince a few friends or family to join, you’ll make about 10% of what they make on the average. So if your mom is an overzealous clicker and makes $50 in a month, you’d get about $5 of that. Chances are, however, that most of your referrals will never click a single link or they will give up on the program within a few weeks.

Like CashDuck, you won’t be able to make a living off of Paid to Surf referral programs unless you have a large site with a ton of visitors or a massive newsletter. On the other hand, free money is free money.

Pay2Surft.net is my paid-to-surf of choice. The payout is between $.09 to $.40 per click and the referral payout is 15% I’m not making enough to quit my dayjob, but it’s enough to pay my hosting bills and domain registrations.

    Garlicky Meatballs Recipe

These are a favorite of mine, because there are so many ways to serve them, it really stretches the meat and the leftovers are fabulous. Each half pound of meat will serve 3-4 (~12 meatballs/3 meatballs per serving)

For each 1/2 lb of ground beef, you will need…

    • 1 egg
    • 3-4 slices of white bread or 1 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1 half onion, minced
    • 3 tbsp garlic
    • 1/4 Parmesan cheese
    • 1/2 tsp oregano

  • Bleach Painted Parasol on Ebay

Bleach ParasolI put up one of my painted parasols on ebay. It is slightly off-model, hence the low starting price, but perfectly usable. This one, if you can’t tell from the post title is from a design in the anime / manga Bleach. From my understanding it is from the 4th squad. I don’t know, I just paint what people tell me to. ^_^ If it doesn’t sell on ebay, I will take offers for it.

For more info on my parasols, visit BewareOfNinja.com

  • Make Money At Home - Cashduck

So a couple of people know that I do the whole “make money from home” thing with cashduck.

It’s the most honest one of these “fill our surveys, complete trials, shop at home” websites around. Cashduck is free to join and there are quite a few freebie offers so if you’re the type who doesn’t want to do any of the trial offers, like me, you can still make some money.

Will you make as much as a full time job doing this? Not really. But I’ve made some nice pocket money just doing the freebies over the last year, and you can too. Just tell them ‘kaligoddess’ sent you.
